I'm not entirely sure how I managed to gain a pound last week. I replaced cookies and junk food with celery and peas. I practiced extra hard. I had a couple of drinks and some soda, but not nearly as much as I tend to have. I only have ONE monkey cupcake.
The temptation to go back to my cookie gorging days was there this week. Especially when they passed around the chocolate cream pie at my pre-bout meeting on Monday.
But I didn't. Not one bite. Because I know that one week isn't going to do for me what several weeks of consistancy will. According to my graph, I need to lose 2 pounds a week for 9 weeks to be at goal. I suppose if I don't i can resign myself to the idea that this is what I weigh, but I don't think that's the case. Who knows? Maybe I will have lost 4 pounds last week! I can do it! I know I can! I haven't had any soda or treats this week! Can you tell I'm proud? because this has been really hard...

I'd say your gaining a pound last week comes under the heading "life isn't fair," Gina. It's weird how we can eat less and gain weight and then turn around and eat what we want and lose a few pounds. Of course that's short term---over the long term we'll lose weight by following our respective plans but that's not much consolation on those weeks when we add a pound or two.
You're on the right track, as habits are what produce results - not one-time binges OR one-time avoidances. I went up 3 this week, and it's discouraging as hell. No reason to quit though, because I haven't reached my goal yet.
Might be muscle mass, ya know.

It's definitely muscle. It can take a week or so before your body is used to all of the changes that you have made.

And I agree with all those who say it's muscle. I went to Weight Watchers a few years ago and the third week I was doing everything right and going to the gym, lifting weights etc. I gained 2 pounds.
The real test? How do your clothes fit? If you're gaining weight but your clothes are fitting better, it's definitely muscle.
Don't give in! It's a continual process of ups and downs but in the end the downs win.
